Dạng 1: Opinion Questions

Ví dụ:

• How can language classes be made more interesting?
• Is family important in your country?
• Do you think we meet different kinds of friends at different stages of our lives?
• What kinds of things do children learn to do when they are very young?

Cách trả lời: 

1, Short answer + reason + example

2, Short answer + because if (reason) + example

3, Contrast two different answers + reason + example

4, Contrast two different situations, using if + whereas if

Dạng 2: Compare Questions 

Ví dụ:

• Do you think it’s better to work for a small or large company?
• Is it easier for adults or children to make new friends?
• What are the differences between schools today and schools in the past?
• What are the differences between living in an apartment and a house?

Cách trả lời: 

1, Contrast the main difference + examples

2, Contrast two differences + reason

3, Yes/No questions: Short answer + reason, contrasting 2 differences

4, Why questions: explain why, stating two differences + example

Dạng 3: Advantage/Disadvantage Questions

Ví dụ:

• What are the advantages and disadvantages of travelling by plane?
• What are the advantages and disadvantages of working with family members?
• What are the advantages and disadvantages of being famous?
• What are the advantages and disadvantages of advertising?

Cách trả lời:

1, State main advantage + difference + example

2, State main advantage + disadvantage, highlighting the differences

3, Contrast an advantage + disadvantage, giving reasons

Dạng 4: Problem/Solution Questions

Ví dụ:

• What are the negative effects of having one international language?
• What are the problems caused by international tourism?
• Does the use of smartphones cause any problems for others?
• Tell me about some of the environmental problems that are affecting countries
  these days?

3, State situation & problem that could result + reason

Dạng 5: Why Questions

Ví dụ:

• Why can some people learn another language more easily than others?
• Why do some people start their own businesses?
• Why do some parents give their children money to spend each week?
• Why do some people continue to be famous for a long time?

Cách trả lời:

1, State main reason + example + 2nd reason + example

2, State two reasons using “Apart from”

Dạng 6: Future Questions

Ví dụ:

• How do you think the family will change in the future?
• Which language might become the next international language?
• In the future, do you think more people will grow their own vegetables?
• What changes will happen to life in the countryside in the future?

2, State main change + reason + example

3, State situation & future change that could result + reason
